King of Kings Lutheran Church held a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Sunday, August 26th. Pastor Dan Wehmeier presided over the event that included the use of an antique plow owned by Les Thoden. Members of the congregation pulled the plow to break the ground on the new building addition to King of Kings. The addition is a 2,000 sq. ft fellowship center including youth/adult classrooms to expand our confirmation, youth and adult spiritual growth and a large open space to provide more fellowship and out-reach opportunities and events throughout our community while also providing much needed storage space.
For over thirty years this has been the mission and ministry at King of Kings. Beginning with our first worship services in 1986 in the auditorium at what is now Wheat Ridge Middle School faithful families have been gathering to sing our Lord’s praises. A year later we began to build our current campus beginning with our church and preschool and then in 2003 expanding our ministry opportunities with the building of our Open Arms Child Learning Center and Gymnasium. With this growth a family grew with a passion to shine and share the new life and hope we have been given within a rapidly growing community.
Construction will begin in early September.
